Run, walk, dash, volunteer on May 6!

Saturday May 6, 2017:

The 8th Annual Cheadle Lake 5K/10K Fun Run/Walk and Kids’ Obstacle Dash

Wow that’s a mouthful. Let’s unpack it.

  • 8th annual
Yep, this is BLT’s 8th year doing this event. We’ve been planning it since last fall, and we’re SO ready!
  • 5K or 10K.
If you’re into competitive runs and walks, then wow, they’re both chip-timed. We’ve revised the courses a bit this year, adding more course along the beautiful shoreline of Cheadle Lake. We’ll make the route maps available at the Cheadle Lake Run website in a few days.
  • Fun Run/Walk
If you prefer your exercise with an emphasis on fun, focus on your rewards waiting at the end: the hot food and the goodie bags with swag and coupons. Plus the knowledge that your registration will help pay for Lebanon’s trail development and maintenance for your future enjoyment.
  • Photo of beginning of Kids' Obstacle CashKids 10 or under: a really fun half-mile obstacle dash
If you’re a kid, the obstacle dash is just about the funnest thing ever. Run, climb, jump, crawl, balance on straw bales, pool noodles, gates, beams. If you’re an adult you’ll wish you were a kid again. Next best thing: you can walk the course with your kid and help out.

In other words: Cheadle Lake Fun Day!

  • Do you get up before the chickens and want to knock off early?
Help park cars from 7-9 am.
  • Are you good at ordering people around with a smile?
Help at the entrance to direct people to register.
  • Do you want to feed off the endorphins of the runners and walkers?
We need pointers to keep them on course, and folks to hand out water.
  • And all sorts of other little jobs, involving more or less energy.

Jessica Ruef is our volunteer coordinator, and if you fill out the online volunteer form, she’ll contact you to discuss the possibilities.

This event is not only our biggest, it’s our biggest fundraiser. The event pays for itself with registrations, so 100% of our business sponsorships and donations go towards maintenance and enhancement of Lebanon’s community trails year-round.

A huge thank you to the many businesses who support our community with a sponsorship. Please let them know you appreciate their support of Lebanon’s trails.

Thanks also to Dr. Thad and Joanne Nelson, who set up an $8,000 matching grant challenge for sponsorships and donations by medical and health care professionals. So far we’ve gotten $6,500 in sponsorships and donations eligible for the match. There’s still time to sponsor or donate–let’s reach the total amount! More information here.

And we sincerely thank our private donors (you can donate here). But you don’t have to donate money. We’re eager to have your support in other ways:

  • Participating in our monthly events
  • Coming to our monthly meetings
  • Helping us with trail work throughout the year
  • Or just telling your friends about Build Lebanon Trails.

Above all, we want our community to enjoy using Lebanon’s trails.

We hope to see you on May 6 – but if not, Happy Trails!
