My name is Rodney Sell, the Founder of Build Lebanon Trails. Developing free-to-use public trails in Lebanon has been my passion for over 20 years
In 2020 we have an exciting trail opportunity: a donation of a critical piece of land along the river and a $50,000 challenge grant to start building what we’re calling the Old Mill Trail, shown in the map here. This premiere riverside trail will be hard-surfaced, lighted, accessible, and nearly a mile long.
The Old Mill Trail will positively impact the community more than any trail project before it. It will connect over five miles of existing trails and will directly connect five city parks: River Park, Cheadle Lake, Riverview Park, Porter Park, and Gill’s Landing. These trails provide free, off-street, accessible access to hundreds of acres of urban greenspace and the wildlife we enjoy.
My goal this year is to raise $50,000 to meet the challenge grant, which is provided by local philanthropists Dr. Thad and Joanne Nelson. They feel so strongly about this project that they have pledged substantial additional funding towards construction.
All funds raised this year from 2020 sponsorships of our Cheadle Lake Run and personal donations allocated to the Old Mill Trail will be matched by the challenge grant up to its limit.
Even a small donation will help bring this special trail property into perpetual public use and enjoyment. A donation of $25 provides $50, $50 is $100, $500 is $1000, $5,000 is $10,000 towards the match. We also encourage you to become a business or private sponsor of the Cheadle Lake Run/Dash event so we can credit your support on our Sponsor page.
You have no idea how much it means to me and BLT to have your support of the trails and your support of our wonderful community. Thank you in advance for your contribution.
